American Precision Industries in Hillsboro Oregon is currently seeking an experienced CAD Drafter/Document Control Technician.

An ideal candidate would be someone with 2 years of experience generating technical drawings and 3-D models, with a firm understanding of modern manufacturing process – as related to a machine shop environment.

An AAS in Mechanical Drafting and Design is desired – but not mandatory for an individual who meets all of the requirements.

A proficiency in SolidWorks is required, and a moderate to advanced comprehension of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) is strongly recommended.

The core essential day to day duties and responsibilities of the position are as referenced below.

1. Generate 3-D models and technical drawings as needed by the estimating and engineering department – ranging from new designs, revisions to current production parts, and fixtures needed for manufacturing and assembly.

2. Communicate with the estimating team to provide the necessary design materials, documents and support, ensuring that all orders released to the production floor contain all of the information necessary for completion.

3. Generate supplemental shop drawings to define or augment necessary information that may not be found in customer supplied drawings.

4. Generate Engineering Change Notifications to existing jobs where applicable – maintain all drawings, design materials and document control.

All applicants should have the ability to follow instructions, be meticulous with their work methods and processes, and work well with others – but also be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently.

Rate of pay will be commensurate with level of experience and ability.
