We operate at the highest standards of the laser Industry with regards to quality, price and efficiency. Our CNC precision laser cutting systems enable a high-quality surface finish through the direction of high-powered laser technology. Our precision machining utilizes Trumpf’s latest coaxial resonator with full integrated automation, offering three laser cutting systems:
- Trumpf 2030 is capable of cutting ⅝” steel, ⅜” stainless and aluminum on a 60’x120’ table using an automated load/unload system and “lights out” cutting capability.
- Trumpf 2600 provides a 60’x120’ table and is capable of cutting ½” steel, ¼ stainless and aluminum.
- Trumpf 2600 is capable of cutting ¼” steel, ⅛” stainless and aluminum utilizing a 48’x96’ table
WATER JET CUTTING
American Metal Specialties utilizes a water jet cutting system capable of slicing into metal at high velocity and pressure. The concentrated jet of water is a preferred method of metal fabrication when using materials that are sensitive to temperature changes during production.
Our waterjet cutting services offer a fast, cost-effective addition to our array of manufacturing services. Advantages to precision waterjet cutting include basic hogging of large areas on parts that would otherwise need to be machined, the production of complex three-dimensional shapes, the ability to make intricate cuts, and custom-finished products.
The water jet cutting system used at American Metal Specialties is the Flow-Allen/Bradley water jet, controlled with a 100hp/60k PSI pump, on a 48’x96’ table, capable of cutting up to 6” with dual cutting heads.
CNC TURRET PUNCH
American Metal Specialties is your choice for a sheet metal job shop in Portland and has provided a sheet metal punching service for over 30 years. Rapid processing speeds and lower operating costs can make CNC punching a cheaper profiling solution than laser cutting, depending on part complexity and batch size.
In addition, With over 30 years of operation American Metal Specialties has a vast list of generic and custom tooling. With this tooling our turret punches can generate simple formed features such as dimples, louvers to logo indentations and knockouts, thus avoiding the need for additional operations.
Our CNC punching machines are capable of punching materials in thicknesses from 11ga stainless/steel to .188 aluminum, and blank sizes up to 48”x72”. American Metal Specialties typically punches materials such as, stainless steel, aluminum, cold rolled steel, brass and copper as well as some more exotic types of sheet metal and plastics. Using computer-assisted part nesting allows maximum material utilization.
During the sheet metal manufacturing process, Press brake forming is often a necessary requirement to complete the fabrication process. Our highly knowledgeable and experienced Press Brake operators produce innovative, economical and high-quality parts for any project.
American Metal Specialties offers a full staff of experienced Press Brake operators with over 50 years of sheet-metal experience, operating a number of Press brakes. Our arsenal includes three CNC Press Brakes that can handle projects up to 95 tons, capable of forming 96” long and three Manual Press Brakes that can handle up to 20 tons, capable of forming 48” long.
Also making the press brake operators job less difficult is the wide variety of American and European style tooling that we stock, enabling the forming of complex features with tooling on hand. American Metal Specialties typically forms & bends stainless steel, aluminum, cold rolled steel as well as some more exotic types of sheet metal.
WELDING & SOLDERING
We employ fully certified, experienced welders to serve a wide range of metal fabrication needs. From the simplest production run to the most challenging assembly in a customized project, our welders produce high-quality work using a variety of methods.
Capable of TIG / MIG welding and soldering, American Metal Specialties has three designated welding bays that operate 7 days a week to produce high-quality projects that are both economically and aesthetically pleasing.
We have 3 convenient locations in the state of Oregon.
Specializing in CNC precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, metal finishing, assembly and CAD/CAM design, our combined companies operate in over 90,000 square feet, across three manufacturing facilities in Portland, OR.
